A little time

And she's really still
Just the loser kid in the corner
And she's really still
Just terrified
Of not being enough.

And she's tried to overcome it
Just takes a longer time to float it
And she's tried to swim again
Just takes
A little longer to relearn it.

And she's faced her demons head on
It just hasn't stuck exactly
And she's faced what she should change
Just hasn't quite
Been ready to accept it.

And she needs a little help
Just a scosche, because she's been alone
And she needs to believe in redemption
Just give her
A little
Time.

Tired

And the days are so, so long
And the nights just may be
Longer
Because the thoughts are strong,
So strong, in just that way
They make days longer,
Processing
Things we thought
Could never be
And yet here we
Are.

But sleep, just sleep, my love,
Though we are too tired,
And yearn for days
When we can rest, we know
That we are not meant for it

For the dreams that bring
No relief;
And yet the fight
We fight
Is better.
Longer.
Stronger
Than what we knew;
We sleep
Together.

I am

This morning as I woke
A soothing spirit spoke to me
And told me that I am.
And that is all I need to be.

The first to send a stone

"Let him among you
Who is without sin
Be the first to send a stone."

I have spent many years
Hitting myself
With this stone
Because I've never been able
To claim
The ability to throw,
But I have been the one to judge
Myself for being unable to throw it
Though the judgement only applies
To myself.

The irony of this repeated scene
Does not escape me.

"Let him among you
Who cannot first send a stone
Judge him (or her) self
For being unable."

And that has been my motto
Until just now
As I've realized my hypocrisy
Is far greater than the edict.

Choices

And so the tides will come
And go and flow
And ebb, and back again over
The hell- and heaven-sent.

What's meant? To be
A pawn in all of this
Is one side of a coin
Or fate or frame of mind,
While the other does its time:

To find free will
Within, now that
Is the question overasked,
The answer overchimed
And misspoke.

While those with their own mind
Will find
The tide to flow
However they choose it
To, in
The end.
